What each verdict means

The four verdict tiers, their score bands, and what each one asks of your compliance function.

Every screening ends in one of four verdicts, set by the screening engine from the final score out of 100. The verdict always comes from the engine — never from the AI summary, which only describes the result.

VerdictDO NOT TRANSACT
Score85+, or an exact ID match with a name match
What to doPlace any related transaction on hold pending review and disposition by the organization's compliance function.
VerdictFLAG FOR REVIEW
Score65 to 84
What to doA compliance officer must review the match before any transaction; a flag is never a pass.
VerdictPOSSIBLE MATCH
Score45 to 64
What to doCheck the match against the subject's identifying details before proceeding.
VerdictNo match found
Scoreunder 45
What to doNo entry on the screened lists matched above the review threshold.

Two refinements sit on top of the bands. An exact match on a globally unique ID (a crypto wallet address, an IMO number, an LEI, a SWIFT/BIC code) makes its hit DO NOT TRANSACT whatever the name, and so does a passport, national ID or registration number when the name also matches or the country you enter is the one that issued it; otherwise that number is held for review. And a hit the engine clears on a date-of-birth mismatch is labelled “Cleared by DOB mismatch”: the date given contradicts every date the record lists, and the name match alone is too weak to hold it.

  • The match score (out of 100) reflects screening similarity and the screening data available; it does not independently establish identity where unique identifiers are unavailable.
  • Do Not Transact (85+ or an exact ID match): place any related transaction on hold pending review and disposition by the organization's compliance function.
  • Flag for Review (65 to 84): a compliance officer must review the match before any transaction; a flag is never a pass.
  • Possible Match (45 to 64): check the match against the subject's identifying details before proceeding.
  • Cleared by DOB mismatch: the date of birth given contradicts every date of birth the record lists, and the name match alone is too weak to hold it.

A No match found result states which list versions were screened. It covers the screened lists above the review threshold — it is not a guarantee of zero risk, and no Sanctix report is legal advice.
